1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Remembering that as a Christian we are washed, we are sanctified, we are Justified is important. Why then would we even think of soiling ourselves with things like covetousness, idolatry, drunkenness. And if your not a Christian you can be Washed, Sanctified, and Justified. If we find ourselves flirting with filth, like the Corinthians, we will become soiled. How do we get away from this? By believing in what God has done for you and than by acting on it. We can know God will cleanse us but until we truly believe we will never act. Believing always produces action. If your hand touches a hot stove you will soon believe that it is hot and then in action you will pull your hand away. ~If I believe I will act.~ 1) Wash the temple a) Ask Psalms 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. b) Act John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Psalms 119:9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 2) Sanctify the temple 2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. a) No idols Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. b) Be different. set apart Lets not get pressed into a form Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3) Justified in the temple A sinful life can be justified. Justified means to be declared righteous. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: ~Justified,Sanctified,Washed ~ which one are you on?

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. What is a temple? A temple is a place of holiness, a place of peace, a place for worship, a place for sacrifice. Since our bodies are a "temple" do we emulate the definition for a temple above? One purpose Our one goal should be to glorify God with our lives, period, end of story. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. If we are to glorify God in menial things like eating and drinking I think its safe to say glorify in in all things. 1 Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. Lets remember that it is a good thing to suffer a s Christian, it identifies us with Christ! Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation... One service. You can really only serve one master! Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. "He who walks with two crowds can only choose one destination." 1 Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. It is important to serve "Jesus Only" but many things can get in the way, our selfish desires, others selfish desires, or even just apathy. If a priest in a temple forgot why he was there, his service would be rather empty dont you think. Remembering who we are serving and why we we are serving is something we should do daily. 1 Corinthians 7:23 Ye were bought with a price; become not bondservants of men. One Savior We were bound by sin but God paid the ransom for us. 1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Christ tremendous love is so motivating that we should live always for Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Psalms 105:3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. So again I ask the question is your temple a place of holiness, a place of peace, a place for worship, a place for sacrifice. ~It can be~ One foundation Make sure you have a foundation The last thing you want to go down and look at you foundation and its not there! Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. We know our foundation is Jesus Christ. And if you're saved, if you have Christ as your foundation, you have all the foundation you need. Jesus is that rock that never changes, Hes that rock that is steadfast and sure, Hes that rock that is a fortress, a mighty tower, He is the Rock of our Salvation. Ephesians 2:19-20 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 1 Corinthians 3:11-12 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Nothing else will do! Jesus Christ is the only foundation of life that will last. What foundation do you want to be on when the storms of life arise? Real love is humble. John 13 Pride and love cannot coexist, love is the very opposite of pride. Love is giving of one's self at any cost in any circumstance. Matthew 5:43-48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour.... You may think it seems weak to let people take advantage of you, you are right But God cannot place His power on us when we think we have our own power. 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. It is a good practice to stay humble enough to see that monetary goods are really just a band aid solution. Yes it is good to give, Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.... But often when people want water they really need a well. John 4:7-10 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: ..... I'm sure we all have seen and heard countless times of lives completely changed because they received Christ. Their thinking will change, their focus will change, their outcome will change. Love will go beyond beyond any barrier, it goes beyond sin, social standing, and skin colour. John 13:11-14 Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. -Don't look at who they are but who they need. When we find it in ourselves to love the unlovable we begin to make a real difference. Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: After all its who we are! -It's our identity John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:37-38 Even when Christ knew his disciples would betray him He showed them love. Lets try to follow Christ's example of love. ~Who knows maybe you could change someone's life today just by showing a little love an kindness.~ A chosen generation 1 Peter 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1) Chosen Generation. God had a purpose and plan for your life before the world began. 2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 2) Royal Priesthood. Remember Leviticus priests were born priest. Praise The Lord we have been born again into a priesthood. Not just any priesthood a royal priesthood, for our Heavenly Father is the KIng of KIngs. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. The veil’s been torn Matthew 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; We have direct access to Gods throne in prayer. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. As priests we have been given a temple to serve in, and we need to take care of it and use it to worship God in all we do with this temple. In what we say, think and do. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And just as a priest would give a sacrifice, our sacrifice today would be ourselves. Willingly placing our desires, our wants on the alter of self denial. Remember a living sacrifice holds the idea of willingly Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. We also need to praise His name with our lives 3) Holy Nation Pure Nation, Morally blamless. Romans 12:1 ...living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. God places much emphasis on holiness. Can I come to the place were I realize that living a holy life is the only life that is acceptable unto God? And even in that its simply our reasonable service! God desires us to be holy, different set apart, for a purpose, for His purpose. God has a purpose for you. But We must realize that the only way to fulfill that purpose is to live holy 4) Peculiar People Its okay to be different! Its okay to have a backbone too! Doing what right is not easy but going with the flow and giving into natural desires is. Perhaps before we ever see a revival of holiness, repentance, or even just obedience, we need a revival of character and integrity first. Vs.10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Lets be men and women of God who will dare to be different and make a difference. 2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, May Christ be praised. God pickles the proud.. "There is perhaps no one of our natural passions so hard to subdue as pride. Beat it down, stifle it, mortify it as much as one pleases, it is still alive. Even if I could conceive that I had completely overcome it, I should probably be proud of my humility. " Benjamin Franklin Text 1 Peter 5:5-11 So many feel that the subject of pride and humility is such a taboo! No one wants to come out and say they are humble for fear of being pegged as proud. Now although it may not be the most tactful thing to declare ones humility we are commanded to humble ourselves. Gods desire is that we humble ourselves rather than Him having to do it. 2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1). Clothed in Humility Vs. 5,6 2). Casting on Him. Vs. 7 3). Caution above Measure Vs. 8,9 4). Called unto His Glory. Vs. 10,11 -The lesson is really one of Pride and Humility. -If we are humble we will submit ourselves one to another, -When we are humble before God we cast our cares on Him in agreement that we can't handle this life on our own. When we are humble we able to be used of God. God cannot use anyone that prideful for his glory, because it would attempt to steal glory that rightfully belongs to Him. "look what I did" " I am sure glad I..." --Pride will always produce sin. Pr 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention..Pr 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction.. Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. --Humility produces Faith We can resist the wicked one by humbly planting ourselves in the Faith of God 1 Peter 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (While attempting to have a humble spirit its good to remember that we aren't the only ones that have afflictions.) --Faith produces Action 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. --Action doesn't produce Faith. James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. "Remember God pickles the proud and preserves the humble" The Promised, Persuaded, Pilgrim. Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Hebrews 11 gives a story of men and woman who had an unquenchable faith in God. And you know what, they changed the world forever! God used Able, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sara, Moses, Joshua, and the Israelites, Rehab, Gideon, and Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all of the prophets: Because they acted in Faith. "These all died in their faith not having received the promises.." True faith is acting on a belief when you may never receive any prize on this side of eternity. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. They didn't just have faith in their head or their hearts they lived in faith The just shall live by faith" Gal 3:11 Faith is not real until its lived. James 2:18 ...I will shew thee my faith by my works. |
