Can we be past salvation? Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, One could look at this verse in horror and think they inevitably must be doomed. We can not take a few random verses out of the Bible and swing our eternity on them. What the writer of Hebrews was saying here when he said "there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins" is, yes there is in fact no more sacrifice for sins. This is because Jesus Christ was the final sacrifice. Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. There is no need to make any penance, offering or sacrifice for sin committed after one accepts Christ as Saviour. To do this the writer of Hebrews says would be like crucifying Christ again. As if to say Christ's original work was not good enough. Silly when you really think about it and yet many churches today believe you can lose your salvation or go to far that Gods arm of Grace can't reach you. The whole of the Old testament and the New points to one thing and that one thing is Salvation. God wants men to be saved, He is not playing games with our souls. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. If we could lose our salvation by some work of disobedience than we would have to conclude that we could gain our salvation by a work of obedience. We know that Salvation has never and will never come down to a work we do or don't do. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; An incorruptible inheritance ~The very power of God will keep us. 1 Peter 1:4-5 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ~Our Salvation is sealed Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, ~ God gives a promise you can count on 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. ~Never means never John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. It's a gift. ~A Gift from God is a sure thing Ecclesiastes 3:14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. ~The gift of eternal life Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ~That you may know 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. ~Never thirst again John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Take the Gift! Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

In the matter of drawing nigh to God or seeking a relationship with God. It seems that some would say they have a relationship with God because the made a decision once or they asked Him for Salvation. But lets ask ourselves; does receiving something mean you mean you value that friendship. Or if you decide to be someone's friend does that mean you now have a meaningful relationship? I think everyone would agree a relationship on any level takes work. Time and effort are required to get to know another person. And just like it takes effort to get to know someone it takes effort to know God. ~Knowing God~ God gave the children of Israel a promise and I believe we can claim it too. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. God does want us to seek Him the Bible says, but that is the sort of thing that is not just going to happen on its own, notice it says "when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Prov 18:17- I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. David knew this that is why he said in Psalms 42:1-2 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? -Do we thirst after God? Psalms 63:8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. ~Seek Him and you will meet Him~ 1Chron 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually Are you a Christian because you want Heaven or because you want God? -Thats like saying I married my wife because she makes good apple pie, how do you think that would go over? Not so good. But if i say "dear I married you just so I could be in your presence, and to know you more." Any relationship should not be about what you can get but what you can give. John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Isaiah 55:6-7- Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: ~ That I would know Him~ To have found God and still to pursue Him is the soul's paradox of love...A.W.Tozer Phil 3:7-10 Paul left all behind just so that he could know God and the power of his resurrection. Forget it all nothing will satisfy the heart but the God who made it. Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. What is our relationship with God worth to us? Is it worth enough to give up temporal glee for eternal gain? Luke 5:11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. Forget the busyness, the programs, the events and get alone with God. Psalms 40:6 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. I wonder what joys await those who will choose to follow hard after HIM? |
